My paternal uncle fought there and returned home with a purple heart. Major moment in our history.

Susan, this is remarkable. I was there several years ago and shared the same arc of emotions but could never have captured it so eloquently. Thank you - your writing is just remarkable (as you are). Enjoy your reunion with the blue car!!!

Thank you for taking us with you. I know the back seat is small in the little Blue Car but I really want to ride along!

I do have the passenger seat. LOL. But whom ever comes along for the ride can’t have too much baggage. 🙂

OMG you are so wonderful- Ed and I have a good friend who just lost her husband to Parkinson’s and it has been a difficult bunch of years. At any rate we both wrote notes to her, and struggled with what to say that felt kind and helpful and meaningful. You gave me what i really wanted to say - “Let their memory be a blessing….what it means for memory to be a blessing—not something we cling to in sorrow, that holds us still. But something that reminds us to keep walking in hope, guiding us forward”. Thank you dear friend for your wisdom- truly you are amazing.

I am so glad you found something helpful in my writing. You are always a great friend...just by your presence, so you shouldn't worry about saying the the kind or right thing. you always know just the right thing.

An oft used saying, may their memory be a blessing, a blessing to also move forward in their honor.
