Susan, you’ve stacked the odds in your favor for a good experience at the Nürburgring. First, and most importantly, you know your car; how it handles, and what its limits are. You’ve bonded over thousands of miles of driving on U.S. roads with some of the worst drivers in the world. So, you know what to do instinctively if there’s a problem. Second, you know that as soon as you get on the track, you’ll be so focused on driving that the worries will recede just like in your auto cross experience. Finally, you’re not in a race, so there’s no pressure to put down a best in class lap record. Just drive within your and your car’s limits and make room for the other drivers, who think they’re race car drivers, to pass. To prepare you might want to drive the course in a driving simulator, someone you know likely has a set up you could use. Oh, and don’t forget to get a Nürburgring decal after your successful laps for the ultimate cars and coffee street cred. “Yeah, I drove that, in Germany, in my blue car…”
